The Nyltite Snap Bushing is a hole-liner that is designed to stay in place with no pressure. It functions as an electrical insulator, mechanical isolator, grommet, bearing or bushing.
The Nyltite Snap Bushing is a variation of the Nyltite Headed Sleeve except it has a bulge at the opposing side of the metal. Once inserted into the hole the head and the bulge keep the bushing in its intended position. The distance of the bulge from the head depends upon the thickness of the metal and can be specified by the customer.
Versatility and Customization
When a fastener equipped with a Nyltite rolled collar is tightened, the collar compresses and the nylon is forced to flow inwards, away from the structurally strong outer rim, contrary to the conventional compressible washer that flows away from the fastener. This is the mechanism of Controlled Flow. As a result of this inward flow, the screw head, the shank and the work piece become filled with the highly compressible plastic material of the Nyltite Rolled Collar forming an excellent screw / bolt lock, screw / bolt seal, insulator and isolator.
Relationship to other Non-Fastening Non-Sealing Nyltite Products
The Nyltite Double-walled bushing can also act as a thick hole-liner, bearing, bushing, insulator, or isolator. The thickness may be necessary for your particular situation if no bulge is required. We will work with you to find the solution to your requirements.
The Snap Bushing is not intended for locking or sealing. If you need locking or sealing, we suggest using the Nyltite Headed Sleeve, or the Nyltite Double-walled bushing.
Variations of the Snap Bushing
Variations of the Snap Bushing include the Nyltite Headed Sleeve and the Nyltite Unheaded Sleeve.
If you do not need the bulge for spacing purposes, we can provide you with the standard Nyltite Headed Sleeve.
As an alternative, we also sell Nyltite Unheaded Sleeves. Like other Nyltite sleeves, unheaded sleeves provide excellent mechanical and electrical isolation, superior to those of conventional isolators. They also function as excellent bearings or bushings and can be used to prevent galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals. They are the thinnest products on the market.
